Dr. Salam Asya, Executive Director of Rawan Association for Child Development, participated in the Early Childhood Conference held in Amman on August 4, 2024. The conference was organized by the Arab and Palestinian Network for Early Childhood, of which the association is a member. It was attended by members of the Palestinian network, representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, as well as civil society institutions, under the auspices of the Juzoor Foundation and partner official and civil institutions from several Arab countries.
During the conference, participants highlighted the grave conditions faced by children in Gaza, including killing, abuse, and deprivation of the most basic necessities of life, from safety and shelter to food and education. The discussions also addressed the extensive destruction of schools and universities and the impact of continuous bombardment on children’s lives and well-being.
The conference concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the importance of institutional integration and coordinated action across the medical, psychological, educational, and relief sectors, according to the role of each institution. Participants also stressed the need to activate these recommendations in order to better serve the children of Gaza.
