On May 25, 2024, Rawan Association for Child Development, in cooperation with Russell Charitable Association for the Care of Children with Autism and Learning Difficulties, held an educational meeting titled “Learning Difficulties and the Importance of the Role of Parents in Supporting Their Children” at the association’s headquarters. The meeting was organized within the framework of the project “Together: For the Reality of Children with Autism and Behavioral Disorders in Palestine (ACA).”
The meeting aimed to raise awareness among families of children with learning difficulties and to strengthen their role in supporting the success of intervention plans. It was attended by the association’s administration, the Parents Committee, families, and a number of interested participants. The session was presented by Executive Director Dr. Salam Asya and specialist Heba Al-Barghouthi, while practical activities were led by occupational therapist Mr. Yazan Hijab and special education specialist Ms. Shahd Muhaisen.
This meeting marked the first in a series of educational and awareness sessions that the association plans to offer in the coming period in cooperation with the Parents Committee. Over the past eight months, the committee has contributed to follow-up activities and training for families in the areas of self-empowerment and human development. During this period, Ms. Lina Anfous also facilitated several sessions with families to support self-understanding, raise awareness of mothers’ psychological needs, and provide practical tools to help them better support their children.
In addition, the association has provided workshops covering learning difficulties, speech and language, behavioral and psychological challenges, attention difficulties, and hyperactivity. The association also extends its sincere appreciation to Ms. Walaa Asfour, journalist and member of the Parents Committee, for her valuable media role in documenting and highlighting these efforts through photo albums, reports, workshop announcements, and success stories.
